Consider the lakes too and not just the coastal towns.

blimey...that's always a long shot, wouldn't base life long plans on winning it.

A mate of mine, the family were applying every year more for a laugh, they finally got it after 7 or 8 years, by then the kids didn't really want to go...and of the whole family, only one daughter ended up staying, the rest all buggered off after a few years

Ya want outdoorsy? How about a 21 mile downhill bicycle ride from near the top of a volcano to the ocean.

You can join the cuzzies on a pig hunt as well.

Open your open shop in the right area and I would think that there's a very good living there. Somewhere recently in the USA forum is the story of the thousand-buck hairdressing tip. Maybe worth a read as that's the sort of right area you want to look into.

Anabella is a hairdresser in the Colorada area...I think she's away at the moment but I'm sure if the OP dropped her a PM she'll be only too pleased to answer any questions he may have.

No my sister-in-law can get to the coast in an hour the way she drives, unfortunately Portland is now full:rofl:

About 10 yrs ago I remember receiving a flyer from a Brit who was trying to start a hairdressing business in Morristown NJ. He now has an upmarket, thriving salon.

Could you help me narrow down some places to live in the U.S. If we do get our visa.

What we are looking for is a outdoor lifestyle, gyms etc.
Somewhere near to the coast, but not super expensive would be great.
Any thoughts??
The only places i know are L.A and Florida?? But they can be costly.

Cheers,

Stuart.

I'm a Scot living in Virginia, its got beaches gyms theme parks n all sorts.Virginia Beach is close by and all the gyms you need are here. Go online and take a look.Oh and by the way weatherwise it's the safest place to be.The cost of living is pretty good too, but, lots of taxes to pay.
