Where to live in the USA
Hey all.
Could you help me narrow down some places to live in the U.S. If we do get our visa. What we are looking for is a outdoor lifestyle, gyms etc. Somewhere near to the coast, but not super expensive would be great. Any thoughts?? The only places i know are L.A and Florida?? But they can be costly. Cheers, Stuart. |

Re: Where to live in the USA
what's the visa? what's the occupation? that'll pretty much determine location...
but on coast, outdoors and not super expensive would put maine into the picture. |

Hopefully we will be on a green card.
I am a mens hairdresser (barber), my wife is office manager for a medical company. I will look at the Maine area, although it may freak out my wife as she reads a lot of Stephen King.:D |

Maine has to be cheaper than the coast of MA...not sure about the weather...I get cabin fever as it is...and we don't have weather that is that bad...its all down to what kind of outdoor stuff you like doing...

Oregon. Portland puts you 1.5 hours from the coast, and an hour from skiing. I'd move there in a heartbeat.

I highly recommend this area: BIG mountains (two > 14000' peaks less than 120 miles away, plus the Cascades, plus the Olympics). Great water sports (inshore and offshore). Great natural resources. Want hot weather? Pop over the other side of the Cascades. Want ocean frontage? Pop over the other side of the Olympics. Want culture and good food? Pop up to Vancouver BC ;-) Only downside is that it's pretty close to Portland... |
