Re: When visiting family leave....why does it never get any easier..??
Given that my sis lived in the US for 9 years and my parents never visited, I think I'm safe from visiting family. I'll have to head back to Aus to see anyone!

Re: When visiting family leave....why does it never get any easier..??
I'm usually the same at airports. We had four different lots of visitors last summer so I was either really excited or very sad with a few days in between. We've been here for 11 years so can't say it ever gets easier. I spend about a month wanting to go home then get better. The only real solution I have found is to go back for a few weeks, that usually makes me realise why I live here.

I havent been through that yet - havent seen anyone from home in 6 months. Im going to hate it when I do and have to say goodbye again.

I will shed a tear (of joy) when the old battleaxe I mean, my mum, goes back on Sunday.... her visits always confirm why I left home at 18!

My family love coming over, and I enjoy having them visit - for the first few days. I end up counting down the hours to their departure and swear never to do it again!

Hi everyone
Im new on this board. Just wanted to post as Im sure everyone on here will understand. (maybe?)
I have lived in NY for 7 years, my mum and sister have just gone home after a short 5 day visit. As usual I started bawling the minute they left and am still really upset 4 hours later.
They have visited me about 10 times and its always the same.
Im going over in August for a visit but thats 4 MONTHS AWAY! Which just seems so long..... I get so homesick...
Do you find it hard when close friends/relatives come for a visit? Its great to see them but its so upsetting when they leave.

I still miss Guinevere (the chainmail fetishist) and BauHausFiend (who got his Mum to come on and yell at us) personally. Good Days!

I went looking for her and saw that she came back in January and actually made it over here in the end! Nice of her to come back and say "hello!" (or was it "f*** off!"?)
