Me and my girlfriend want to get married after I graduate from University in July 2002, so can't leave before then. When should we begin the K1 process to enale me to leave for the US in July 2002? We will be goiing through the Nebraska office, and if possible I would like my interview before May as I dont want it to clash with my final exams.... any ideas?

I recommend 7 months. If you expect delays, you can wait up to 10 months, but you
should be careful not to go to the interview more than 6 months before her travel
date. (FYI: I-129F approval is valid 4 months. K-1 Visa expires in 6 months.)
If she applies in December and gets approved in January, you could interview in
February and the K-1 would be valid through July.
Best of luck,

Because it makes a difference in the answers people give. You know this process is
not the same in all countries.
