How many posts do you think it takes in a thread like this before the OP commits suicide? I always wonder whether the reason the OP doesn't come back after post #1 is because they've hung themselves from the light fitting after reading the first few replies.

Anyway, on the brighter side he could probably get into Canada on a TWP or TFW although the TFW for restaurant staff is currently suspended due to abuse.

There was a British pub in Naples I went to once, no idea what his immigration status was though, but I did meet a British couple once who ran a B&B in Orlando on E-2. But of course you need a "significant investment".

Yep it was a 15 year old dream for me that started when i was aged 11.

Makes you wonder how many would come over here if America just opened its boarders to anyone from the UK wanting to live here

I moved over for work - now with a green card and settled - my older brother become quite jealous of the weather (that was about it) so looked into relocating himself. After one night of research found it wasn't possible, so decided to buy a house in Spain, asked his work if he could telecommute from Alicante and the rest is his history - very happy on the Med with lots of sun and sangria and everyone around him speaks English so he never felt the need to learn Spanish - which I expect is what puts a lot of UK folks off from upping and moving anywhere apart from US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand - laziness at having to learn another language!!

don't get me wrong people need to know if they have no chance, just sometimes I think it can be done a bit friendlier but, if people were told nicely and still didn't take it in, then let rip!!

Best bet for the OP would be a E2 investment visa...but getting a liquor license for a bar in Boston could cost $200K on it's own. Bit cheaper in the burbs, but still around $60-80K.

The British Beer Company, string of pubs do bring folks over on J1's for the summer though, now and again.
