Think they've been watching one of those silly emigrate TV proggies on the box, myself. Hopefully, reality will dawn sooner or later.

They big up how great it is to live abroad, how cheap everything is, and completely ignore the visa issue.... so that many who either immigrate based upon a false reality, or find out about the false reality, have newfound gratitude for their lives in the UK!

You know, I have to wonder if this is some sort of reverse psychology campaign going on.

(P.S. Love a good conspiracy theory!)

we are both openminded and open to new and different experiences.
we are looking for a friendly quite area but not too far (i.e. no more than a couple of hours) from theatre, music, cinema and arts.
as for a home we are looking for a minimum of 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, two garage and a garden with a pool/hottub.
we would prefer a community with community features such as gym, clubhouse, community pool, etc.
thanx and please continue with your good helpful insights. x x

First a few comments about Houston. I lived there for 18 months. I liked Texas and Texans, but Houston was too hot and humid for me. June, July, and August were tough to endure, with temperatures over 90 and very high humidity for weeks on end. It was difficult to take 95 degrees at midnight... Houston is very spread out, and I spent a lot of time in my car.
As for your post that I quoted above, if you don't mind my asking, is there family money in play? Your minimum house is going to cost a minimum of about $300,000 in an upscale area. A pair of freshly-minted, newly hired schoolteachers will have trouble affording that without additional resources.

Nope -- think it's genuine. I'd guess now we've spilled the beans about what the OP didn't want to hear, they'll not post again. They'll pay a 2-bit outfit that promises a guaranteed H1b for $20k and finally come to the realization we were right a couple of years down the line. Sad really. Dunno why I bother telling 'em in the first place.

Why are you all so nasty and neative to newbies?
I was simply asking for peoples advice tips and comments, i wasnt expecting to be slated for my ideas.
As for why i didn't reply to your more recent replies - well i am still in the UK and we are on a different time, so while you are online, i am in bed as it was the middle of the night - 4-5am.
Never-the-less we will move accross regardless of how long it takes, and i did actually state that it will be next summer not this summer that we plan to move accross.
thankyou to all of you who have responded with advice.
We already have been told by a number of ISDs that as we are already fully qualified in the UK we will simply need to do the texas exam before our first year of teaching in the US is up to be certified in Texas.
Any more advice or tips or comments are welcome, however i would prefer if you could refrain from simply being rude or insulting, as i would not do the same to you - after all neither parties know little to nothi ng about each other.
Thank you. x x
