Waitrose in USA

Not surprising, since Heinz is an American company, founded in Pittsburgh, PA!

I am soooo jealous, the supermarkets here on the east coast aren't that great with the exception of Trader Joes. Plus you can't buy alcohol in any of them which is even more annoying!

Re: Waitrose in USA
Just like to throw in a recommendation for The Fresh Market which seems to find an ideal balance between extremely high quality and affordable prices. It's like a Whole Foods without the pretention or the absurd pricing. Mostly on the eastern seaboard, but we have a few here in the midwest.

American baked beans have a sauce which is more like barbecue sauce than tomato sauce. It's not usually runny though. I like them, I'm used to them now. I don't get the Heinz ones either, I get them at Trader Joes.

I find the vegetarian beans to be the closest to English BB. Although I am an avid carnivore I don't like finding chucks of bacon in my beans.

Yup, my hubby, a baked beans fanatic, reckons Bush's Vegetarian Baked Beans are the most tolerable. Our Safeway was selling Heinz Baked Beans for a while but I think I was the only one buying them and they stopped stocking them after a while

Wegmans.
They are slowly filtering out of Upstate NY and making it across most of NE now. Awesome supermarket. It puts all UK supermarkets to shame. It is more like a french iipermarrrche.
