Wait Time for Citizenship Oath Ceremony (N-445)
Hi there!!
Any general idea of how long does it typical take for one to receive Oath Notification after having his/her citizenship interview? My local INS is San Francisco.
More details: I had my citizenship interview in Oakland, California about 2 weeks ago. The interview went okay and I passed both the civics and English exams without any problem. Some friends of mine had interviews on the same day in San Jose. Guess what, they've received N-445 Notification for Oath Ceremony already.
So my question is, should I go to SF INS to check the status? Or maybe 2 weeks is too early for a decision letter?
What may complicate this question a bit is that I also applied as part of my N-400 application to change the spelling of my names (I have been going by an unofficial English name for a long, long time and now I want to make it official). Will this cause extra delay in the process? I know a lot of changed their names too, but it does not seem to be a problem.

Re: Wait Time for Citizenship Oath Ceremony (N-445)
I recently passed the naturalization interview at Oakland (INS San Francisco District) on Sep 3, 2002. The officer told me that it would take "at least a month" before the oath ceremony. It has been one and a half months and I have not received a notification yet. I wonder if anyone here knows what the typical wait time is between the interview and the oath ceremony in SF in recent timeline. How often is the oath ceremony? Thanks in advance!

I think its taking a little over a month from "passing the interview"
to "getting the letter for the oath ceremony". More importantly I
think there 2 sessions every month in San Francisco at the Masonic
Auditorium. Sometimes both the sessions are on the same day.
