You're lucky you're a guy, you can do that.

Er, what exactly is involved in the process of the test? I thought I'd just have to send in some spit on a q-tip or something.

You do-a swab from the inside of your mouth, but as a woman I don't have that paternal thing going on. I think the only DNA thing I can do, is like Tom said and do the which daughter of Eve or whatever. That and I think it does show or can also show Native American heritage.

For example-Dewhurst is one of my family tree names AND they have a DNA Dewhurst/Dewhirst project going on. Well because my Dewhurst was a woman, I need to track down her male relatives to see if he'd do a test and then I could find out how I hook up with the Dewhursts/Dewhirsts already posted, cause so far I'm batting zero. Anyway, I found a brother of her's, who had a son, who had a son. Trouble is I can't find any mention of this son after 1942.

A swab in the mouth. I got it for my Dad for his birthday a year or two ago;

I only did his paternal side as it was quite expensive. I never actually seen the results but from what I heard they traced back to Northern Europe and/or the Urals.

I'd be interested to see the maternal side as his Mom was very dark.

Have you tried the church of latter day saints ( Mormons), apparently they are an excellent resource for genealogy

I have, and I have gotten alot of good stuff from them. We joined Genes Reunited-not much help for me so far, and the US version of Ancestry.com. I need NI stuff though.
