US Tax Question -
I have a few newbie tax questions..
I'm a USC who up until May 2015 lived most of my life in the UK. I moved here with my wife (on a spousal visa/green card) and our son (who is a USC). I have previously completed the paper US tax forms from the UK using form 2555 EZ to exclude my UK wages and therefore pay no US taxes. My wife and I last received UK wages in April. I started working here in the US in August 2015 and my wife started working in September.
So, should we submit our 2015 US Tax Returns in the normal way - i.e using one of the free electronic tax filing services? Or does the fact that part of the year we were based in the UK and have only been in the US since May/working since August mean we need to do something different?
Any advice would be appreciated
