Default US Pension

Can anyone point me to help with a pension thread?.

My wife is retired and receives full US pension. I am turning 62 next year and we have been discussing if i should take early pension ( due to health concerns).
US govt website is about as clear as mud.
Trying to find out if she still keeps full pension with me on reduced, or does she get hammered as well.
Any help appreciated if can point us in right direction.

Do you qualify for the pension in your own right, having paid in for enough years, or are you piggybacking on hers? If you quality in your own right, your claim will have no effect on what she receives.
