This is exactly what I hope they will do. I had hoped they were already discussing it and would have announced today, but no.

But you are in Illinois and I'm in California, so there's a good chance those two states will fully adopt the notion of vaccine passport.

This could be further complicated by the issue I raised in another thread recently - Florida has passed a law that no business operating in the state can require a vaccine as a condition of receiving a service. The subject of that particular article related to cruise ships (which are BIG business in Florida, of course), but I'm guessing airlines could be also affected? Now, I believe 'airline rules' are federal not state, so maybe Florida State cannot apply rules that apply to 'Federal matters' ...? Don't know.

Otoh, I'm doubtful that the Biden Administration would agree to a vaccination passport given the amount of pushback there generally has been on them.

Flights are governed by the FAA and so I don't think states have any authority. For example, the airplane mask mandate is just as enforceable in Texas etc even though those states have banned such a mandate.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a federal matter. Presumably business is bringing pressure to bear.

Yes presumably it would be enforced by DHS not airlines.
vaccine passport may be less controversial if only applied to non-US citizens/LPRs - i.e. as way ro roll back Presidential proclamation on non US persons.

I think an option maybe "Covid safe" travel where travelers are subject to either Covid testing as they are now, or can exempt themselves from the tests with proof of full vaccination protection.

I wonder what the issue is with regards to the airport terminal? Are all the shops / cafe's in a terminal also under federal rules? I wonder if, in a Florida airport, you can wander around maskless until you get to the gate? That would be crazy.
