Default Upholstery fabric shops

I need to get a couple of sofas recovered....spent some time today going round Austin shops. YEUCH! Old fashioned!

Anybody got any recommendations for Houston shops or maybe online? I like designers guild style but not their prices

I don't know that people really do that here (reupholster furniture) unless you're handy with a sewing machine. I think people are more inclined to buy slip covers or buy new furniture.

But if you have a Marden's or Joanne's fabrics or even Walmart they might have a good fabric section in their craft dept.

While shopping with Mrs P, I have never seen heavy upholstery fabric at Walmart. A "traditional" non-chain furniture and interior design shop will probably do reupholstering for you. But if you want to do it yourself there are probably some curtain/ household fabric warehouses in/ around larger towns and cities. There are several I know of scattered around NC, they may be chain shops, but I don't know that they are.

In Houston try High Fashion Home and there is a place on Fondren but can't remember it's name.

thanks everyone..

one of my very good quality sofas got slight frame damage on the way over so since they have to take the sofa apart to fix it, I decided to change the fabric.

I didn't know about Joann's so I'll try there.

We stopped at one in Miami a couple of weeks ago, they had quite an extensive collection, which I presume is reflected in their national chain.
Lizzyq is a fabric expert, I'll ask her too.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your sofa. I have heard good things of fabric.com https://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric.aspx who do a wide range of fabrics and also have a swatch service.

I'm going to second fabric.com, their swatch service is good the swatches are typically 6"x6".
Also warehousefabricsinc.com have a good range quality fabrics and again a sample service.
If you buy at JoAnn I'm going to recommend that you buy enough to finish your entire project as they cycle their fabrics often and tend to sell through. Oh and get the JoAnn app for your phone it gives some good discounts.

Don't buy from Joanne's if you can help it. You won't get the same quality of fabric. I'd go with fabric.com over them any day. You really will get what you pay for. Also, americanfolkandfabric.com have fabulous vintage styles and very good quality.
