Only the wealthy can afford healthcare, and most people on the right don't have a problem with that, do they? And no - we could modify it so the gun tax is percentage of income.

The levy would have to be uniform in all states, of course, so whatever is more efficient and easier to impose.

I'm only responding to the point made by Englishmum about raising revenue for victims of gun violence. My personal preference would be to ban all handguns and automatic weapons in every state full stop.

That article the way I read it is the Politicians ducking, as usual.

I have no objection to people spending as much of their own money as they want, but the central system whatever you call it is limited and the allocation of scarce resources has to be rational.
The NHS clearly has its problems. But just as clearly it does a lot of stuff right in terms of priorities, as evidenced by how the UK does in terms of basic measures of health outcomes. And at half the cost as a percentage of GDP than the US.
