You need a port open for bit torrent to work at full speed. Your router is blocking it. You need to set up two things:
1/ A local fixed IP network for your machine with the BT proggy so it is always at the same place to the router. (By default, routers use a local DHCP server that hands out an IP to your computer when it asks for it. DHCP is a hackers friend so you're best knocking it off all together and fixing the local IP for all the machines on your network)
2/ A port forward on your router for the port your BT specifies to the fixed IP of your machine.
If you've no idea what I'm talking about, DON'T try it yourself. Get a local geek round to help you.

As for the NAT thing, well it'll only slow you down a bit, be better to set up the port forwarding, of which I had a link a bit above as it depends on your router...it'll help with getting faster uploads, in that you'll get better connections.

Now I know that I have to get a life, I have been watching Azureus seed all morning and getting excited at the speed. Somebody give me a job before I go watch the traffic lights change or go looking for wet paint

Someone else can say if I've got that about right, I think we need to get popular programmes early that people will continue to download. Wow i'm becoming a computer nerd!
That must be why newbies with a low ratio can't download newly added programs for 24 hours?? It's making sense now

If you get a 1:1 ratio on Azu, then force seed it to help with your ratio.

Peers are people your connecting to and the total number of seeds/leeches, Seeds are people that have the file, leechers are people that haven't and are getting it.
