UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!
I ventured into a local TJ once to find the place too small and over crowded. The people there seemed to be in a trance by the stuff served up.
I'm too afraid to ever go back.

TJ's doesn't sell the cheapest food, but it is probably the cheapest place that doesn't sell fake food or highly processed food, like cheese flavored cheese substitute, or chocolate flavored chocolate style bar.

In case you didn't know, it's actually owned by the Aldi group, the owner of which is one of the richest men in the world! He discovered the secret of 'giving the people what they want at reasonable prices' and also, REAL food at real prices!
Pretty much nothing is overpriced.

As of 2010, supervisory crew members ("Merchants" and "Mates") can start at $45,000–$75,000 per year, and store managers ("Captains") can have earnings in the "low six figures". The company contributes to most employees' standard 401(k) plans. As of 2013, pay for entry-level "Crew Members" was $10 to $20 an hour.

The actual Aldi is about 2 minutes further down the road and has the additional benefit of not feeling like I am walking into a swarm of TJ cult members.
Thankfully I don't live a life of artificial poverty.

How do you know if supermarket food is fresh?
There are several Farmer's markets within a short distance from me. I'm not sure they are worth the additional price.
We have a TJ's and FRESH PRODUCE | Lunardi's Markets | Bay Area

This week I discovered the '4 & 20 Pasty Company' in South Sarasota.
Run by a chap originating from North London, they bake pasties, pork pies and sausage rolls on the premises, stock 'proper' back bacon (sourced from an enlightened pig farmer in Lakeland , FL) and have a well stocked freezer with all kinds of other goodies.
The Eccles cakes, baked on premises, were to die for. Nom, nom!!!

Cost Plus World Market, they had Kinder Surprises, out by the tills for $4 a piece...
Lolli and Pops, in the Natick Mall, had a bunch of English sweets and chocolate imports such as Cadbury's chocs...$10 for the big bar of caramel milk chocolate though. Things like Wispa's and Flakes were around $2 or so.

And they pay their employees quite well.

They also have higher manegemnt positions available, an area manager for example which includes company Audi and decent salary.
All position include all medical, dental plus 401-k's.
