UK construction graduate looking to immigrate to USA
I am just about to graduate from university with a construction management degree and would like to immigrate to the USA.
I am 26 Years old and before university i was a qualified joiner. I have traveled most of North America a few years ago and I just can't get the place out of my head so now with a degree I feel its time to actually see if it is going to be possible for me to get over there to live and work.
So I am wondering if anyone has any advice for me?
All help will be greatly appreciated.

That said your initial post says nothing that makes me think you have any chance of getting a visa - it is very tough, and many people come here and ask the same question as you only to find out that emigration to the US is not possible for them.

Unfortunately, most construction companies in most States have been laying people off in the US for the last 5 or more years. As a result of these layoffs, there are a hell of a lot of 'good' construction workers already here, waiting in line for the housing market to pick up again, so they can get back to jobs they are qualified to do!
Considering the numbers of qualified workers out of work that are US citizens already, you would have an almost zero chance of persuading one of those hiring companies to spend all that money to get you over here for that job

To be honest from reading around it doesn't look like I'll be able to get a visa, I just thought I may of missed something.
I guess my best bet is to gain experience in a uk based firm that also operates in the US and see if I can transfer. I was just hoping to be able to get there quicker.
I have read a few things about getting sponsored by local government?!?
I have always had an interest in being an American police officer as well and read that there are 16 states (I think) that allow me to be an officer with out being a US citizen but I'd need a degree... which I have.
Thanks for the help so far.

My husband's degree is in Construction Management, and he's headhunted regularly by companies in the US.
Granted, he's got 20 years of work experience in a very specialist field (renewable energy industry), but hey, it's possible in time!
But if you want North America and you're not prepared to wait a decade or so to get the necessary experience to warrant a US company to spend time and thousands of dollars on sponsoring you for a visa, then perhaps look at Canada?
Much easier to get in to than the US, and being under 30 you have the advantage of being able to go over on a Working Holiday Visa. That would give you 2 years on an open work permit (1 year visa, but you can have 2 of them) so is quick and easy.
Good luck.

No, would be the quick answer.
Except if you did further studies here or a internship J1 visa, but still less likely.
Long term, well get enough experience and it might be possible, get a company transfer kind of thing, but construction in the US is pretty different.

There has been a big drop in construction in most of the US in the last 6+ years. Sometimes you just have to take whatever job is available.
