Travel insurance is not suitable for when you are moving here permanently.
I'll go one step further and say that UK bank staff almost certainly know bugger all about the travel insurance they're selling. They probably just looked in the leaflet and saw that it covered trips up to 30 days - and they'll be targetted on how many they sell so no wonder they would recommend. Travel insurance is pretty much designed for going on holiday and coming back. If an insurer finds out the policy's been used for anything else then why would they pay out?
