I'm glad to hear it all worked out OK in the end!

Glad it went well. Get them used to it early, and its sooo much easier when they're older.
Surprised at the lack of priority boarding with United - I thought that was standard! We flew united domestically over spring break, and they had priorty boarding for families with kids 5 and under.....and my youngest is now 6, so we're out of it

Forgot about the jet lag: our 4 year old suffered really badly, not just the time difference but lethargy, not eating properly etc. Took him a good 10 days to sort himself out. But the 5 month old was fine!

Yeah, we usually took advantage of it, especially if we had a lot of carry on. To be honest, there was a period when they were toddlers when we sometimes left it to the last possibly moment to board so they could run off their energy before boarding, but it was always nice to at least have the option.

I'm glad that the flight went well.
I forgot to warn you about the jet lag.
When we relocated to China (from US West Coast) I was so paranoid about the flight, that I had forgotten about jet lag. It was terrible for about 3-4 days. She'd be up at 3am wanting to play and be active when all we parents wanted to do was sleep.
Hang in there. And congrats on the travel. Now you've done it once, and know what to expect, you can go anywhere!
p.s. for us, the worst time was about 18-32 months; and then it's all about the iPad!
