Hit or miss...sometimes they're great, others not so much.

Sausage rolls and bacon weren't bad but you're getting into Wholefood prices and we've got more options so don't bother these days. When we lived in Belfast, the Co-op in town was a great place for sausages, the meat guy made his own, from English to African and they were awesome.

We normally pick up a packet of Monster Munch on the way up or down as a treat and anything else going cheap after a holiday event that's on a big sale and that's about it these days, but depending on who's at the till, they often give the kids a couple of choc sweets for free too.

We had the sausages a while ago. They really did taste like proper British bangers. Haven't tried the bacon but I'm going to get some black pudding there tomorrow and try it on the children.

To actually answer the OP...

Decaff teabags
Malt loaf
Zovirax cream for cold sores (was charged $40 copay for one tube here)
Opticrom allergy eye drops - I bring several bottles over every year as I'm allergic to birch pollen and Maine is full. of. birches.
M&S undies
Ready Brek

9 years in, there's very little I can't do without, but I do still rely on M&S for socks and undies. They're still my go to place. I brought an IKEA blanket out here that's still going strong and has become a comfort blanket of sorts, but honestly, you can replace nearly all your household wares.

Foodwise, Weetabix is the only UK food I still crave, and I can get that at Trader Joe's. I do miss Fruitibix like mad though.

Portsmouth-Portsmouth is an unknown quantity at this point

Pack your teapot in your checked or carry-on luggage. My wife is English, we just moved here to NH, and the whole family enjoyed having real tea from their familiar teapot.

Give up on sweets- you might as well forget it. Chocolate is so hot here. Cheese can be good- people on this forum complain it is bad, and though it may be in some areas, you will find good cheese in Maine.

Buy clothes here- though a starter hat/gloves/scarf from over there will at least get you over the shock of arriving.

It is regional...but it's not the availability that's the problem but the cost.

Crap own brand tasteless block of plastic cheese at the grocery store, $6 a pound. Decent bit of cheddar, $15 a pound.

Summer is a good time though when you've got farmers markets and get direct from localish farmers for a decent price.

That reminds me... The electric teakettle will still work, with a UK to US socket adapter, even without a stepdown transformer. It will just take longer to get up to the boil. Kettles are now readily available here (I've had a handful), but they are not cheap like they are in the UK. To avoid the hassle of trying to locate one, bring yours if you can, otherwise you'll be boiling water in the microwave/on the hob to begin with.

Do you mean length or circumference? Not meaning to be pedantic, but if that's really the case, I think one of us should probably see a doctor tomorrow!
