Top 10 wish list
As you know we will be moving to Maine soon. We are wondering what the top 10 things that you wish you took with you?....or that could not live without

Re: Top 10 wish list
Shallow baking tins for making mince pies - mine got lost in the move and they only have deep cupcake ones here.
Good saucepans - I'm still using my IKEA starter pack.
Vegetarian sandwich spreads.
Ordinary non-sweet cut bread.
The BBC.
Public transport.
(Obviously I can live without all of them).

Would be a good start.
Do the tourist things of home and have some photo's of those spots around town can be quite nice.
If you're moving here and starting from scratch, a can/bottle opener and the like so you don't have to faff around the first couple days getting temporary crap while you wait for your shit to arrive so you can have some food/drink in your new pad.
You're heading to Maine in winter, so some decent socks and driving gloves, so you don't have to faff around. They don't have to be arctic good as you can get those easily enough once over, but you don't want to get in the car without any gloves that first day :/

Those you can find at the Brit store in Freeport, now and again and sometimes in Reny's, Mardens and a few others...but yeah, bit of a chore. They're good for yorkie puds too as the pop over tins here are massive but worth getting into while in Maine as they're lovely.

You should bring chocolate and malt loaf to all of the other expats in your state

My selection of single malt. Couldn't bring it with us due to the hassle with customs if we did, but a decent bottle of single malt is expensive in the US.

I tried to make malt loaf for my husband but I am unable to find malt in any form or quantity, even online, in less than the massive amounts sold to homebrewers. Any ideas?
Whoopie pies consist of two shallow chocolate cakes that look like soft cookies, put together with white frosting. They're like Oreo cookies but soft and MUCH MUCH MUCH better, thanks.
I use my whoopie pie tin to make round omelettes that can go on round buns for sandwiches, and as a "muffin tops" cupcake tin.
I bought woopie pie tins. I have no idea what the frig a "woopie pie" isut they're nice shallow baking tins for yorkshire puddings and mince pies.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far
Woopie-pie is a cross between a cake and a cookie, you stick two together with butter cream

Welcome to Maine and I would second or third the mince pie pan, I've never seen one hear. The Brit store in Freeport is more of a touristy store than a useful place to pick up supplies. You can get pg tips and Heinz beans in most grocery stores.

This thread has got me wondering - do online vendors not ship to Maine?

They're a Maine thing...two turd sized choc discs with a marshmallow type filling...but I don't know anyone that uses a tin to make one. They pipe the shape out on a baking tray.

But they do have decent sausages and bacon now and again, though you've got to ask for it, unless you've moved the fridge out into the open.
