Not that I think that a 5 year old should see a R-rated movie, but shouldn't a parent decide that? I mean whether their child should or shouldn't? In saying that, what prevents a child's parent (here or the UK) from renting said R-rated movie and watching it with their little sprogue at home?

I agree with Patrick in general. It is not "more logical" here, nor is it less regulated, or any other Daily Mail myth.
