Yes. Immigration is a very precise matter and you should get used to being precise in what you say and mean. Woolly thoughts and words will lead only to confusion, misunderstandings, and quickly to wasted time and money, soon after.

In a word - yes.

A single misplaced word when talking about visas and immigration can and has lead to disaster.

In which we deal with immigration questions.

You expect us not to care if we get things wrong when it can adversely effect people?

Correct. And we are just giving you the best advice we can on here, as laymen. As you've discovered, you need to seek a consultation with a qualified Immigration Attorney to get information about your US visa path. And of course other legal input on other aspects of the business itself (not immigration related).

Yes, immigration jargon is very specific.

This is about all we can tell you at this time. When you are getting closer to the visa application, come on back and post your more specific questions.

In the meantime, you can also ask questions here regarding the business aspect in general. Just refer to the fact that you will be speaking to an immigration attorney (specific term, yes) regarding an E-2 or other appropriate visa. Otherwise you'll get asked about it again.

Closing this particular thread because it's starting to circle.
