Default Split time between US & UK

Is anyone here splitting their time between the US & UK? Say April to September in UK, and October to March in US?

Not like that, I did commute to the UK for a few years, Sunday night to Friday afternoon about 3 times a month. I switched most of my vacations to US destinations like Hawaii to keep my count of days here higher. If you live in a state with income tax get ready to pay a lot of tax.. you will end up tax resident in both places.... and you can’t get a healthcare plan for 6 months only....

are you on a GC now? Are you trying to go for citizenship? What are you trying to achieve by splitting your time?

I am a dual UK/US citizen and I would love to be able to do this.

What is your context?

CV19 aside it should be no issue then unless it’s one for a new office set-up where it may look strange not being here when they go for renewal... my understanding is some use it for frequent work travel here vs. living here full time. The IRS rules will apply anyway the same as they do to any visitor...

Yeah, I’ve been doing that, in retirement, since 2015. No regular annual schedule - just 3 or 4 months in one country, then 3 or 4 in the other. It’s been disrupted by the pandemic though, I’ve been stuck here in the USA since June. I’m a dual citizen. My wife is a US citizen, and, although happy to spend a month in Britain every so often, doesn’t want to spend as much time in England as I do.

I prefer winter in England, since it’s generally warm and dry. My home in the US is in northern New York State, where winters are horrendously cold and snowy and summers are obnoxiously hot.
