10%? Ouch. I didn't know that was happening.

That's ridiculous. It's not the dealers gun...they are charging for a service plain and simple. I wouldn't give them my business.

Lever guns? Nice. I'd love a lever .22.

I thought about getting my own FFL. Not for long though... it's a giant PITA and I don't buy enough firearms to make it worthwhile. I know a few people that do though, and they might cut me a deal on the transfer fee should I ever need it.

I don't know if a PR can hold an FFL or not, anybody know?

Just had a quick scan on the Wikipedia page about FFL and it didn't say anything about being a citizen but then again someone has written the word penis all the way across the page so who knows.

It used to be pretty easy to get a type 01 FFL. The regulations were tightened significantly, though, and that has all but eliminated "kitchen table" FFLs. You need an actual place of business now, and have to jump through a lot of hoops to get approved. It's much easier to get a type 03 (Curios & Relics). Lots of perfectly good old guns out there.

At first glance it doesn't look like citizenship is required, but don't hold me to that.

Try here on the NRA-ILA website.

It doesn't say you can't, but it does state that a person who has renounces their US Citizenship can't get an FFL.

That's because renouncers are prohibited from owning firearms, period. USC Title 18, Section 922. Renunciation is one of the specific questions on ATF form 4473.

I do .44 mag. Also have dies for .30-'06 and am planning on getting a set for .243 as well but haven't actually loaded for them yet. Factory ammunition has gotten really expensive.

We still have a couple kitchen table FFLs round here. I mostly use them for price matching, which is probably naughty of me...

I did look into C&R requirements, and I don't recall seeing any obstacles to LPRs. In the end though, like ABY, I decided I didn't buy enough guns to make it worth renouncing my 4th Amendment rights.
