Default shipping stuff to US

We are moving to LA at the start of September and want to ship some stuff over (some furniture/personal things/books/cds/few electronic items). We live in London.

Can anyone recommend a good shipper/freight service or offer general shipping advice?

Thanks.

The company paid, so I don't know how much it was. All went air and it was with a company called Interconnex. (Interdean also springs to mind - I think 1 took over the other...). They were really good but I think they may be the higher end of the market??

removals - they seem really good and they're who I plan to use when I go to Atl for 6m. 0800 515930
They quoted me £1175 for 2 large sofas and 10 packing crates.

Default it was

door to door believe it or not! They said it would take 8-10 wks for the stuff to get there and they would clear it thru customs etc. The guys on the end of the phone are really helpful too.

We used Fox.. they charged us 3500ukp to transport everything- 118 boxes in total.. we left most of the furniture except the beds.. It arrived 7 weeks after they said it would it was badly packed .. the deliveres didn't speak English and left a box on the truck which took another 4 weeks to arrive.. and y the time we got it all we'd pretty much figured out that we really didn't need most of it anyway. Think very hard about what you take you proably won't want it when you get here.. everything is so cheap here just a real waste of money to ship everything.. MY advice.. bring the real treasures and seel the rest adn buy new if you possibly can

Excess baggage company;

Quoted £1666 inc vat and all customs clearance charges. This was based on 300 cu ft, which included a king size bed and 3 piece suite, cd's, photos, toys, bikes, BBQ etc

That includes packing and delivery to your new US address.
Oh and they also offer 4 weeks free storage while your looking for your new address, if you pay complete on day of removal.
You can also pre-book for a charge of £50.00.

They differ from normal removals as they buy space in bulk through container companies like P&O or airfreight through all the major carriers. They have offices in all major British airports. They'll also get your stuff stateside a lot quicker as they dont wait for containers to be packed with removals - there main business is excess baggage, which they shift everyday to all ports.

I found them very helpful and Nearly £800 cheaper than the rest.

Give them a call, there based in Wembley.

I'm using Chapmans based in Cardiff, they did say 8-10 wks, but that was months ago, I now have a date of august 8th and they collected on march 18th, it was £1200 inc insurance upto £2000, we'll wait and see how it arrives was door to door though and they take care of customs.

Try:
Binoray Ltd,

tel 020 8 946 5157
fax 020 8 944 1476

web : www.binoray.co.uk

I haven't used them yet but they quoted me substantially lower for a door to door service.

For air freight, try cargobookers 0208 7978888.
