Rent

So what kind of rent cheque do you get for your money in your parts, anything included or not?

Just curious, or to make myself feel better...I hope *l*

It's a hidden poll btw.

In Maine, $800 got you a 2-3 bedroom house, $900 furbished, with a lakeside view....would include snow plough/oil/water/rubbish.

So that sucks, down here, paying a lot more, and only includes basic rubbish collection (It's a pay as you go bags on top), water, sewage...electric and the big one, oil are on top....though snow plough is included....though where we last were, only after four inches of snow.

$1200-1500 gets sod all around here, tiny apartment with sewage/water/parking...so we're kinda lucky to have found what we've got, even though I' going to cry when the oil usage goes up, summer quaterly was $290, though that's mostly because the previous person did a runner and didn't fill the tank when we got here.

down here a really crap 2 bedroom apartment in a duplex is $450 including water and goes up to a shit load

$700 will get you a pretty reasonable apartment here

damn...that's not bad going....so that general prices or city price?

for maine, that was a city, Portland would be a little more pricey, but not much more pricey...

Re: Rent

In Palm Beach a 2 bed apartment will knock you back not much change from $1800 per month. A 4 bed house is about $3000 per month.

In this neck of the woods probably $1300 or so for a 3/2 single family dwelling in half acre.

Re: Rent

Rent on a 2/2, 2 floor apartment is $1200 down here, it was $1300 a few months ago for a similar apt.

Re: Rent

We were paying over $2.5K per month over 10 yrs ago for a 3 bedroomed apartment.

Ah but where you were before there was bugger all to do....forgot you'd moved...are you in a warmer location or will you still be snowed under 6 months out of the year? :D

Re: Rent

1800 square feet 3 bed, 2 bath, double garage, 2/3 of an acre, quiet cul-de-sac.
Walking distance to 2 golf courses. 5 minutes to the University. Bargain - $895.

(Although we bargained down this price - it had been a rental home on the market for $1,295. The owners took it off the rental market, tidied it up and put it up for sale. It had been for sale for over 12 months. I called the realtor and said we loved the house but were not looking to stay in the area. We offered 12 months in advance if they slashed the rent by $400 a month. I really didn't expect they would go for it, I was just pleasing the wife who insisted I call to see if we could rent it.).
I couldn't have got this type of return on my cash in the bank! We put aside the $1,295 each month, we now have the initial 12 months we paid out, plus a bit more - a great way to save for a deposit on our next house - we are going to buy next time.
If you don't mind a student town its great. Once the misses graduates in May 2007 we are moving, I'm more than sure you won't find something this great for the money in Dallas :(

Re: Rent

We live in a stooodent town, so even though the rental market is saturated, its still not that cheap. We pay $600 a month for a one bedroom with the worlds smallest kitchen and a windowless bathroom.
Compared to what I got for my money in London though, its a palace.

Re: Rent

Last year we was paying 1,100 a month for a two bed tiny apartment in Virginia Beach, still about 20 minuet drive from the Beach it's self I might add, so we decided to move here for Base housing, which is 1,200 a month, but we do not pay out for water or Electric, so I can have it as hot or as cold as I like in the house and I even put the dish washer on half full :o :)

Aye, but we were a summer tourist trap, all those national parks, the ocean, mountains and the like...

and new place, it's probably not going to be colder, but we'll probably end up with more snow, further inland rather than on the coast like before....should be interesting...forgot to pick up the winter studs from the in-laws this weekend, so hmmm...

here we're in a 3 bed 2 bath apartment with no bills included and we're paying $2k/month.

Only reason we stay here is that I can walk to work in 5mins.

for a house... around here a 1000sqrft place will run you around $2.5k/month... want a garden... add a few hundred more.

My wife had a great job offer in California starting next year. The wage was great, just not great enough. California is really expensive to rent or buy property. We had to rule that dream out (my dream) a while ago :(

My A.C. is still running. Here in tumble weed world its still hot. Its just starting to get to that stage were my journey to work at 7:50am has the car blowing warm air instead of the A.C. running. By 9 am its reaching the 80's though.

I went to ride tonight and the thermometer at the barn read 92 degrees - at 6pm

How the F**K do you all manage ?................. I think our mortgage payment of just over $600 a month including escrow is crippling

$600/month mortgage.. haha thats funny
here for a 1st time buyer, something half decent youre looking at say a $500K mortgage, maybe 2500-3000/month including taxes

or I am renting a 3 bedroom place for $2200 but thats pretty cheap
1 bed, something nice between 1000-1500. Anything less than $1000 is probably just a very small apartment of flatshare

I interviewed for a potential job in San Diego paying almost double! what I earn here in Florida. It wasn't enough to consider moving - to purchase an equivalent home to ours here, we'd have to spend, no kidding, 3-4 times what we paid here.

It's fantastic over there, however, they are right when they say people are becoming unwilling to move there due to expense.

We were renting a 2 bedroom townhouse in an apartment complex before we bought our house and it was $680 a month, it was pretty decent but didnt want to rent anymore.
The house we have now is 4 bedroom, 2 bathrooms and we pay $900 a month including escrow. Have a pretty big garden as well although i dont know the size...its nothing in acres but pretty big for being IN Nashville.

Average price for 1 bed apartment in DC is about $1000 p/m, go further down into southern Maryland and a 2 bed house is $1800 p/m, apparently DC's overall cost of living is 81% above the national average.

Sudbury, that's proper posh, just out side the W's though ain't it, and chances are, there on $100K salary type people up there....but on the plus side, they've got to deal with Route 20 to get anywhere :D

And the hispanic workers, like most poor people that live around here, live in the unadvertised part of town, around here, that's a street over from the town green, a right heave.
