Long story short I have been offered a great job in a town called Niceville, FL just outside of Destin.
All i know about it is what I saw on a 1 day interview trip down there.
My wife and I need to find a place to live (rent first), so if anyone knows the area's to avoid or where to look any advice would be great.
Also wondering if there are many Brits that you know of in the area.

I live about 40 miles from Niceville in Pensacola, I dont know much about that town but have worked in Fort Walton Beach which is very close and visited Destin. The area is very military oriented with a lot of people moving in and out. You have to consider the humidity, hurricanes and bugs, the summers are brutal, but the beaches are beautiful.

Many people commute to and from Gulf Breeze/Pensacola area but there is one long congested and slow road in and out. Destin has a great shopping outlet and a little further away is Seaside a model urban planned community where they filmed the Jim Carrey film the Truman Show.

I understand there are some Brits around as there is a British Shop in Fort Walton Beach - The British Peddlar. Or hang around the Cadbury section in World Market in Pcola and one will show up eventually Good luck.

Thanks for the advise. Relocating can always be a little stressful especially if you don't know the place or anyone there. Would hate to end up living in the middle of a gang war. I did find out that Niceville has a annual "Mullet" contest so I guess I will get a chance to see American culture at its best
