Qwest - Possibly the worst phone company on earth

Just moved house and arranged to have my existing account (DSL and phone) transferred to new address. Phone was on within a day and was promised the DSL would be active yesterday. Called them today after being unable to connect and was told.
Representative - "we can't reconnect your DSL because you have an over due bill"
Me - "what bill? I paid the last one"
Representative - "well apparently you have a bill from 2002 that wasn’t paid, it's for $143"
Me "2002???...and I’m finding out about it NOW?"
Representative - "Well if you can pay that now we can re-connect your service"
There followed about 5 mins of me asking for her main supervisors name and her telling me "a group of people deal with this"
Apparently no one has one boss at Qwest, they have 5.
Whets funny is that in 2002 we moved to the house I just moved from and no questions were asked about overdue bills. They just decided “by the way you owe us money.
What an effing farce. I'll never complain about BT again.
The missus and I have cell phones, we are going to tell Qwest to f**k off and we will go to Comcast for our DSL. Anyone know what the legalities of asking for money for a bill 3 years later are? Surely there must be a statute of limitations on this?

Demand that they mail you the bill. Make them prove it. Qwest are a bunch of fuckers. Took them four attempts to connect my phone line down here.
After two attempts, they're asking me, "How do you know it's not connected. Have you tried another phone jack?".
"Because there's no phone cable leading into the utility box."
"But have you tried another jack?"
"So which part of 'no line into the house' do you not understand?"
The strange thing is that someone physically showed up each of the four times (while I was out - they left notes). The fourth guy was actually very good, but I'm sure he'll be outsourced sooner or later.
