Question for those who have US spouses

'Met' on a poetry website - he had the audacity to leave a comment criticizing my syllabic count!
November 2001
He sent me a plane ticket for my birthday and we met at Dallas DFW and spent nine lovely days.
December 2001
He came to England for Christmas and met my mum and my two girls.
Easter 2002
He came back with the Easter bunnies.
Summer 2002
He's back in England again.
Halloween 2002
American Embassy OKs my visa.
December 2002
The girls and I arrive at DFW with as many books and soft toys as we can carry.
A year and a half later, our family's expanded to eight - two adults, two children, two hamsters, and two turtles.
Regards

Don't know if this counts or not, my husband is a Brit, but took his citizenship last year, so he is technically a US Citizen. Anyway, we were married in 1971, he was just 18, I was just 19. Have been together ever since.

Also, you didn't describe how the two of you met. Is it a secret?

No chat room for us. Met at a Hash House Harriers running club (=drinking) event in Cyprus in 1996. Didn't think much of one another but had changed our minds by the time we met again in Malaysia in 1998. Been married almost four years now, and I had all my 'conditions' removed (by mail) about two weeks ago.

I met my husband in Belgium at a U.S. military party -- still not sure to this day why I went to this party as it wasn't the type of thing I normally went to That was back in 1987. We got married in Nov. 1989, moved to the U.S. and 10 years later got around to having kids (we have two daughters - ages 5 and 2).

I suppose it is a sign of the times when the majority met online.
I am old fashioned and met my wife in a pub, to be exact the Roman Bath pub in York where I was working part time on saturdays because I was bored. She was on vacation and on the way to scotland and stopped for lunch, I served her and her friends and then showed them round York. She parted without giving me a phone number or address but I quite fancied her so I went to the hotel where she stayed and asked for her address and wrote her a letter (with paper and pen for those who can remember that far back) - Stalking worked for me because she replied to my letter and invited me over to Boston where I went for a couple of weeks and ended up staying 8 weeks. I came back to the UK to start Uni (mature student) and she followed me over, we got married soon after and lived in the UK for 8 years before moving back.

i was on holiday in the states visiting a friend - at a bar I met a rowdy group of girls in town for the holiday weekend, 'hooked up' with one of them....
travelled back and forth etc and finally got my company to transfer me over to the US firm
has worked out pretty well, although I would rather be in the UK with the exception of the sunny weather and cheap property prices where i am
adjustment of status happening as we speak....

The wife and I met at University in Manchester in 1997 (She was over doing a student exchange)
She went back to USA at the end of the year
She finished her degree and then moved over to England in summer 1998
We lived there until last year, then moved to the USA.

I met my wife in an Edinburgh nightclub when she was over on a university field trip. The dry ice parted and our eyes met across a half empty dance floor. She was smiling at me so I danced my way over and we eventually we got talking. I found out later that she is very smiley person and wasn't necessarily smiling in my direction.
We had an e-mail relationship for a year, during which she came back to visit me a couple of times and I went to see her in Texas. She got her degree, moved to the UK and we got married a year later. Two years later we started the process to DCF our way across to the States, arriving last May. Our first daughter was born in December and we're now unpacking boxes in our new house (having lived with the mother in law for a year).

Met the Mrs in Uganda - I was building wells for a British charity and she was in the Peace Corps. When Bill & Hillary Clinton toured Africa in March 98 they visited a US AID/Peace Corps project near where I lived in Uganda and several peace corps volunteers were rounded up from elsewhere in the country to help liaise between the locals and the White House staff. Two of them were "billeted" in my house and one was a tall blond girl from Virginia. Quite a lot of nookie ensued, we were married in London in October 99 and moved over here November 02.
