Well it's time I finally got off my rear end and got that degree that I've been tying to convince myself I don't need for no other reason other than laziness and fear. of what I'm not sure :-)
Anyway, the universities asking me for transcripts and have said I need to go through an evaluation company to get them converted into equivalent US qualifications.
There's nothing more than GCSE's and a BTEC Nat Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Oh and 1 O level that need converted, rest I got here so aren't an issue.
I'm sure others have been through this before, anyone got any recommendations of any really quick and cheap ones I can do??
Thanks
Graham

You may need to speak to the school(s) you are interested in. There are several different evaluators out there, and a school you are interested in may only accept evals from a specific one or two companies. Also, some schools require you to give them your foreign transcripts directly and they then send them out for evaluation to whomever they prefer. You need to find out what the school requires.
If the school doesn't have a preference, just do a Google search for transcript evaluators. FWIW, my hubby used ECE. I think they were under $200 and had about a month or so turn around. But depending on how in-depth of an evaluation you want, it could you more and take longer.

Depends on the school, because it's an unregulated industry, anyone can set up shop, so it's a bit pointless, though WES seem popular and one of the larger places that do this, so check them out too...but ultimately, it'll depend on what the institution will accept.

Strangely enough I'm going through exactly the same thing. 20 year Engineer with 3 O levels & an ONC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
I'm trying to apply for an undergraduates degree in Parks and Recreation Management with the hope of it helping me get a job in Colorado/Arizona.
There are a number of prerequisite courses, which themselves have prerequisites!
The more I research, the more it seems like I'm going to have to go through the entire US school program to be allowed to enroll on the course!
If you're interested in an Engineering career, you could also try registering with the IET (http://www.theiet.org/) as membership of a professional body is well considered in the US.
Good luck,
Mark

Most reputable evaluators are members of NACES (http://www.naces.org) but as someone else has said, you do need to check whether the agency are you planning to use is acceptable to the authority asking for the evaluation.

I just got an evaluation through FCSA www.fcsa.biz. I would recommend them. The detailed evaluation cost $110, which I thought was pretty reasonable.
