Default Processing time for P85?

Just curious if anyone can give me an idea of how long I might be waiting for a payment from HMRC into my UK bank account??

OR if anyone knows how I might find out directly how long my local office is taking to sort through these forms? Preferably without a phone call!

I thought I heard that they were taking their sweet time recently, but I wasn't sure how long the 'average' processing time was in the first place, just any indication of how long I might expect to wait would be great.

I'm just a tad worried that I might have caused complications seen as my UK bank account name differs from the name HMRC now have on file (married name) and I'm also claiming back 2 tax years worth of overpayment and the P85 form only gave me space to write 1 year (not that that stopped me...)... I did write a cover letter explaining what I was claiming/expecting and tried to clarify the situation in the hope that it would make things simpler, but who knows whether that worked, or if I've just confused the poor souls even more...

No idea these days, but a few years back it took them a few weeks for me.

Thanks, I think it's been just over a month for me... But could be a little less (hubby posted it UPS from work and kept forgetting, so it went a few days later than it would've) so I'm not all that surprised I haven't got it yet...just wondering how much longer I should expect to wait!

Apparently the US taxes come in within 10 days or so and you can track them...wish we had that!!

I've seen processing times vary wildly... from about 3 weeks up to 7 months! But I normally tell folks to give it 5-6 weeks before following up with the office where the form was filed.

Ooh lovely Here's to hoping it'll come in any day now then...

It took like 2 months for the form to reach me in the US (I was in the UK when I requested it) and then I got a bit muddled, before getting on with it and just explaining to them what I was asking for in a cover letter. I'm just concerned that I've made an error on the forms/my previous employer has missed something out...the P45 I have only covers tax year ending 2010 and I terminated my employment in May 2009...so it looks like I've earned pittance in my entire employment with the company, is that right? Or should I have information regarding tax year ending 2009 AND 2010?

If that makes any sense at all.

ETA: Cr*p I think I have actually made a mistake...hopefully the cover letter will explain it enough that they will understand... GRR. Stupid tax years...
