Oof, $1.859 this afternoon, it's been stable for a few days maybe the stay-at-home order will make a difference - although every Tom, Dick and Harry businessperson in Florida seems to consider their business essential!

Down another penny today to $1.55. Diesel is $2.55.

Our company (plumbing/AC/electrical) is also considered 'essential' so no WFH for me. I actually did a practice WFH test this morning. Proved it's doable but not gonna happen.

Some stations are down to 87 cents per liter, a few stubborn stations still higher but it keeps falling week to week.

I noticed that one of usually average priced forecourts was advertising regular at $2.569 yesterday, there was no one filling up there, which is hardly surprising when most places locally are at $1.80ish and my preferred station, less than two miles from the eye-wateringly priced one, is once again leading the pack at $1.799 today. No shortage of customers in most stations as the traffic is noticeably quieter than usual but still very busy.

What a difference a year makes. (price is per liter not per gallon.)

At the current rate of usage, we won't "need" gas before the end of May. I may top off my truck at the end of April to take advantage of the discount offered by Kroger. My end-of-March purchase of discounted gas resulted in 2 x 5gal containers now stored in the shed, and there isn't yet enough room in the tank of my wife's Accord to empty one of them.

FWIW I think the price has dropped below $1.90 locally, but I can usually get gas more cheaply at gas stations I pass when I am out and about. At the moment I am not passing any others, because I am not "out and about", but I estimate we are saving about $300/mth on gas, and probably a ¢r@p load more than that/ mth on not eating out either.

I didn't need gas but on my trip to the market yesterday I noted that gas close to home was $1.37 a gallon. This would mean if I ventured to Route 49 further out off the main highway it would be 10 to 13 cents less per gallon.

Wait! Diesel is cheaper than gas in BC? ..... Diesel has been as much as $1/gal more than "regular" gas on the East Coast of the US - the differential varies over time. It has drifted downwards over the past 10 years, and diesel is currently 40¢-50¢/gal higher than gas.

It really varies, when gas prices took off last spring and summer, diesel was cheaper, now diesel costs more, sometimes its the same price.

Vancouver at the moment diesel is 1.07 to 1.12 per liter and gas is around 0.89 per liter in Vancouver and into the 79 cent range in the eastern suburbs an hour away.

Gas prices now are into 20-25 year lows in some areas.
