Price of gas update...

Re: Price of gas update...
$2.60 at what is usually one of the cheapest places for me to buy petrol in Austin. The Friday Harvey arrived it was $1.99
Supplies are now getting to us so the long queues I saw at the weekend seem to have gone and the stations are opening, so I am surprised that the prices have stayed high.

Re: Price of gas update...
The headline price stuck at a solid $2.59 across the entire area I drive, for the first half of September, but started to slide ten days ago, a cent or two at first, and as low as $2.55 in some cases, but now things have really started to improve, and I paid $2.45 last night.
Well actually I paid $1.27, thanks to my BP Visa discount, however this is the first time in three months that I haven't been able to buy 20 gallons @ 10.9c/gal.

Post Harvey and through Irma prices were pretty much frozen at $2.699. About a week after Irma past through prices have been all over the place at $2.539 and upwards, they are currently between $2.59 and $2.64 at most places.

According to this site, the average cost in the US is $2.85/gallon, compared to $6.11 in the UK. Not sure how accurate that is, but it seems about right.
Or, if you go the other way, it shows that it's about 56p/litre in the US, compared to £1.19/litre in the UK.

The price of petrol in the UK is around £1.15/liter, or around US$1.55/liter. The price across much of the US is $2.50/3.78 liters (US gal), or about 66¢/liter. How does that make petrol cheaper in the UK than in the US?
In fact it was just a month or so back, before Harvey trashed Houston, that I was paying about $2/gal, or about 53¢/liter, and the price is likely to slide back towards that over the next few weeks. At that price, the price of gas in the US is one third of the price in the UK!
All that said, we find we drive a lot further in the US than we did in the UK. I think at the moment we are racking up somewhere approaching 50,000 miles a year spread across our four vehicles. That went up from around 30,000 miles per year when little Miss P started school and Mrs P and I were no longer able to commute together.
