You can also monitor job sites to find out what's skills are in demand, and which may coincide with your interests.

Thank you again guys. Well, I definitely would not go into a career if I didn't think I would enjoy it. My prime motivation is to first explore what job opportunities there are for visas and then to see if the appeal to me. Obviously if not I would never do one them.

Physical therapy appeals to me as I love working out and avoiding injuries and how the joints work are something I care about. Just a shame it takes a long time to study.

Being a manager is also appealing as I like very much to be around people/working with the public and everyday is different and challenging.

I couldn't say that I would love to do them as I have worked in those fields but what I am currently doing I have grown tired of or outgrown. The passion is gone so to speak.

Unfortunately my partner is still finishing her last couple of years of becoming management and financial accountant so couldn't leave to study over there just yet.

Just wondering how you can get a transfer with a fast food joint?

Does not seem likely.

Head Office types excepted.

TGI Friday's is not a fast food joint. It's a larger restaurant chain. Still seems a bit unlikely, though.

T.G.I Fridays is huge. Both my brother in law and sister were offered permanent and temporary jobs in the states last year. They actually do it quite frequently for managers with a good track record of success with the stores they run.

The company my partner is an accountant for is a multinational company so it might be good for her chances. I know one guy from her company got one through that. Not sure what an accountants success rate is or the demand though.

"Casual Dining" is what the restaurant type is categorized as, along with, Chilli's, Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, and the like.

But not a term I have ever heard used in the UK.

I know people who work or have worked in such establishments in the US, not exactly well paid and seemed odd that it would be L material.

McDonalds has a University however so perhaps I am looking at this incorrectly?

So does Dunkin' Donuts! My dad went to Dunkin' Donuts University in order to become a Manager there. He loved that job and stayed in it for quite a while!

Agreed , I believe it to be a US term, but then the UK doesn't have many mid-market chain restaurants. I suppose there's Harvester, but that's really scraping the barrel!

Agreed, I don't see how a restaurant manager role could be spun to be L worthy.
