Postage Rates in the US Increasing (Again)!
Get ready for another increase in postage rates from USPS. First class is going up a cent from May 12th.
Here's a good page summarizing the changes:
http://www.accuracyproject.org/postagechanges.html
Not content with increasing just the domestic rate, the international rate is increasing too. 1oz to the UK will now be 94 cents from May 12th.
At least we can send our Mother's Day (March 2nd) cards at the current rate.

At least there is no sales tax on stamps and all related postal services like there is in Canada.

Make sure it isn't part of the US Postal Service's new LSD Stamp Program

I always get tickled when I hear people complain about the price of stamps going up. I used to work in an office of older people back home and when ever first class stamps went up by a penny or two there was an uproar.
It always makes me think of a piece of Jack Dee's Live at The Apollo:
"People always make such a fuss when the stamps go up. I think a first class stamp is the last bargin on earth. It can get a letter to anywhere in the country. When people complain about the increase, Royal Mail should just turn to them and say 'Well fine, deliver it yourself then. See how far you get with your 38p train ticket."

So true!
Although I do have to moan that they keep raising intl postage as it ends up costing more than the gift to send it these days!

... and I thought those prepaid Priority Mail envelopes were a bargain to send stuff to the UK but the delivery time is no different to regular airmail. FACT.
