I would like to take my cordless home phone system to the US - i know I will need to get a small transformer - but does anyone know is the phone systems are incompatible?

As far as I know, UK using it's own digital system. Different frequencies

USA:
900mhz -2.4Ghz- 5.6ghz. There are some pre 900mhz cordless phones around. Non digital Non spread spectrum. If you live in an apartment, the people next door can listen to your call. Even in your own house, others can hear you on the radio etc.

if I get the jack converter will i be able to plug a UK phone into the us phone system and make calls?

pc modems work - are phones the same?

No because Pc modems are basic corded analogue phones. It's the frequencies on cordless phones which differ. You will notice USA uses 900 mhz in Europe/UK 900 mhz is used for Cellphones/mobiles.

I have never tried. Sure someone will reply.
