Default PC Problems

In the last month I've noticed that my PC has been very slow in processing regular Internet use and have seen tons of ads for "Registry Repair Pro " for a $9.95 one-off fee.

Does anyone know of a free repair tool that I could download? I give the system a once over with "SpyBot" every week and I don't have any ad or spyware to my knowledge....

Thanks

Try downloading and running AdAware also - it helps with pop-ups and tracker cookies.

And while over at the hippo, if you don't have an antivirus prog, get Avast, it's probably the best free one out there as it doesn't have a naff GUI, it's not a resource hog, and it covers IM's...very good and quick scanner too.

But yeah, need to run Adware and spy bot weekly, could get them to have active scanning to work on the go, though with adware, that's only in the pro version.

I got talked into buying "Panda" antivirus spam spy adware etc.

It seems to work well blocking stuff and warning of this that and the other.

Thats on the PC got the usual McAfee on the laptop

IS the Panda any good?

Ray - The ccleaner was great but after the free scan (where a few rogue items were found), the PitStop prompted me to buy their product to "clean" my system. Is there no such thing as a free lunch?

then you'll want to look out for O&O Defrag, it's much quicker and does a much better job than the windows defragger...
