Sounds like things are getting better....:)

Application sent June 16th

Received DC June 17th

Payment processed July 12th

Passport received August 5th

* No calls to Careline

* Please note this was a renewal application not a new issue.

* No tracking e mail received.

* Overall I'm very pleased with the process

* Good luck to all.

YaHOO

got passport today

17 weeks not a good thing

still i am glad to move on

Why not got everyone here to make some suggestions how to improve the passport service

I like the UK model the application has a bar code on it so as you can track the application process

You have to take note of it B4 SENDING

anyone else have some input:)

Samantha I have removed your last name and date of birth, it's really not wise to post personal info like that on a public online community.

Have you called Careline?

You might now wish to reflect that it probably would be a good idea to obtain your Canadian citizenship.

Also, as your posts suggest you do not have any Canadian proof of your immigration status, you need to look at that first. At best, you are vulnerable to losing your job, healthcare, etc, if you cannot prove you are a permanent resident. And at worst, if it turns out you were only admitted to Canada as a tourist rather than an immigrant in 1964, then you have much deeper problems which might require an appeal to the Minister for Immigration to sort out. At a minimum, do not leave Canada until you get a permanent resident card.

Dean is not around at the moment. Call the careline number that others have posted in the thread...they seem to be helpful. Good luck.

Welcome to the site. :)

thanks  this is my first time posting anything, anywhere. So thanks for taking the time to look out for other people. I was just irritated and wanted answers.
I haven't contacted care line YET cause I don't want to have to pay even more $$ to have them say. "we dont see you in the system" or "sorry can't help" I know I'm gonna have to do it but I'm praying for a small miracle of it showing up.:fingerscrossed:

Was it for a new PP or a renewal? If it was for a renewal I would certainly call the CareLine number...especially as you are due to travel in 2 weeks.

Even if you're new to posting on forums...I hope you stick around and get to know us. :)

Re: Passport Delays

Deans not around:( I've read in a older post that he's help before..... Oh well I guess I have no choice but to spend even more money!!! It's so upsetting that I have to pay $200+ on the passport than have to pay $2per min to find out where it is.

I also had to send of for my kids first time American passport they arrived 2days ago and only took 2 weeks to process. I know it's American and that way it's way faster than the British passports but it was like rubbing salt on a open wound... I was glad they arrived but I was hurt that mine hadn't.

It was a renewal. But I had lost my old passport. Also a name change. But when I took it in to the passport office in dc they told me I had everything in order and I should get I back before august. yEAH RIGHT

No, my kids where born in American and my husbands American. I just looked on the uk in USA website and under contact us, they state that due to passport delays they will not be additional charges to call the care line, just international rates the your phone provider will charge. Ok that's not that bad then. Ok I will call them on Sunday,

I am getting a bit twitchy myself about the passport. Calling the careline as soon as it reopens.

Courier has my application package as delivered June 6. Yes there was a name change but back to my maiden name. Not exactly rocket science.

Fingers crossed!

It arrived on Thursday! I was pretty impressed - it only took from July 20 when I mailed it to August 4 when it arrived here for them to correct my name. I didn't even think they'd even have opened the envelope by then. I am so glad this is over with. Good luck to everyone else!

After all the stress of waiting for passports last month I ended up with two. An American one and a UK one.
(I gained US citizenship days before I went home on vacation.)

I just came back to check how things are. Have the delays improved any?

Someone else on here had trouble because they were spelling the name wrong. I would call them back and have them search for you another way (i.e. date and place of birth).

What do they think is going to happen on Thursday -- no tea break or something?

Oooooh that was snarky but I am so annoyed. Right now I would pay $500 extra to have my passport within 7 days. Maybe they should offer that as an option.

They did search me using my D.O.B.... Any how they got all my info wrong, and I have to wait for them to correct it im gonna be sooooo mad!!! I don't even know what is gonna happen from now until Thursday but it better mean my passport is in the mail. I drove 5 hrs to the passport office in DC just to make sure they got all the right information they needed from me and to cut out delivery time. And now here I am still waiting for ever.

It is really frustrating I know. At least they had my info correct but they received that thing beg June. On this site I have seen people who have sent them later and got them sooner.

I have a sick relative and it is getting a little hairy waiting this. I don't want to arrive at the funeral apologizing for the passport office.

I'm sorry to hear about your relative have you called care line and told them that you need your passport now due to a family emergency?... I've also noticed that some people have been getting theirs within a month. Mine is a renewal and name change but it isn't rocket science.

Re: Passport Delays

Honestly I did not want to make a huge fuss but maybe I should. I suppose now if I call back they'll think I am making it up.

Mine was a name change too but back to my maiden name. I have had 2 passports in my maiden name already.

Re: Passport Delays

Give it a few days than call again, it's seems as if those who have been making the effort to call every few days have gotten their passports sooner.... It's worth a shot, couldn't get any worse.:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:.

Re: Passport Delays

Ok so I just called care line again, and now I'm in the system. Yesterday I wasn't but i am now. The uninterested Scottish guy said that I'm in the system and they are putting my info on my passport and it's now processing. I asked him how long does it take from that point for it to be finished and sent to me, he told me he doesn't know and that someone will be contacting me in 2 days to further discuss any issues. I'm pretty sure they are not going to contact me and that I'm going to have to call again. :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed::f ingerscrossed: it's not another month before I see my passport. Seeing as I have travel plans in 15days. This doesn't seem promising, but they could also surprise me and I might get it in the nick of time.

Haha:rofl: it is a rip off to pay $233 for paper with your picture stuck on it, than you have to wait a ridiculas amount of time for it.

I just hope they fix what ever issues they are having and develop abetter more organized, time managed system.

Re: Passport Delays

My passport arrived a few days ago because of the helpful comments on this forum. Here's my timeline:

June 11: Mailed passport
June 13: Passport received
July 7: CC Charged
July 14: Called Careline (spoke to very unhelpful guy with Scottish accent)
July 27: Wrote email to MP (replied that he contacted agency to speed up processing)
August 1: Started to feel very stressed (UK flights with family booked on 19th Aug)
August 2: Called Careline again. Spoke to a friendly Scottish guy (Scot?) who first told me to expect passport in mid Sept. When I said I had a vital job interview in UK, he gave me a reference number and told me to expect passport in a few days.
August 5: passport arrived :)

Huge sigh of relief! Hope this is helpful to someone.

Anyway congrats again. Good luck in your new job

July 13th: Application signed for

Well, you pay for processing... not for approval - so I suppose it's possible. That said, I've never heard of it actually happening. If you're a UKC (and can demonstrate that via your application), you're entitled to a UK passport.

Re: Passport Delays

It's never happened to me.. but I have read that the first thing they do is charge you than start processing your application, so yes. and I don't think they refund your money if it's denied either cause they see it as your paying for the processing time. I wanna say if you look on the uk in USA website it's stated on there. But if you have any great concerns or think you may have filled it out wrong than call careline.

Hi,
I'm new to this website and want to give you the time-line for my son's passport renewal. I was not very optimistic about a quick turn-around time, especially having read some of the horror stories here, but I was pleasantly surprised ......

Sent request to Passport service DC via Priority Mail USPS on 1st July 2011
Checked bank statement fee was debited July 25 2011
Passport received via UPS 11 August 2011

I did not have to make any calls to the careline.....Overall I'm very happy with this service. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones, or perhaps they are getting their act together at last.
