Pal Vcr

The CMD-850 should convert your VCR's PAL output into NTSC suitable for your USA TV.
Make sure that the input and output formats are set correctly, I think there are 2 different versions of NTSC so make sure you select the right one.

To refer back to the original question asked :
I went for an expensive option and bought a Samsung SV5000 for $400. As far as I'm concerned it does EVERYTHING without the need for converters etc. I get video tapes sent over from the UK and Oz that are PAL recorded and play them ( through the AUX input on the TV ) on my NTSC telly. It will also play NTSC videos to an NTSC telly. Or SECAM etc. If you ever move back to a "PAL" country you can still play your NTSC videos onto a PAL telly ; it's great !
Look at
http://www.220-electronics.com/VCR/samsungsv5000.htm for a good description ( and a better price than I got mine for ! )
Hope this helps, Mark

Many thanks Mark. Will look at getting one tomorrow I think. Got to be cheaper than replacing all my UK videos !

Panasonic used to make a model similar to that Samsung , the model was an NV-W1, not sure if they still make them. The company I work for uses them and the Samsung units.
while typing this I Just typed NV-W1 into Google and the first result is the company I work for
