Default OT: Any avid book readers here; recommended reading........

Well, my oh my..........I dont know why, but recently I have taken to reading..........

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a book on Greek Mythology?

Ive been looking on Amazon and The Complete World of Greek Mythology by Buxton has caught my attention. Im after a very thorough book; but one for the layman.............

Also, any other general recommendations?

Im about to start reading The Da Vinci Code......fingers crossed.

thanks for your input

Read Angels and Demons before the De vinci code it takes place before the de vinci code , most people I know who have read both say this is the better of the two books. Also I buy books from Albris.com I have found lots of out of print books there at very low prices.

Bernard Cornwell books are a good yarn if you like historical fiction, the grail question series was good, and the civil war series was awesome.
The others are great to, just started the new one, the Last Kingdom about King Alfred.

Can't help you on the Greek mythology but a lovely book I read last year was "Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Tracy Chevalier. The book really brings a Dutch household in the 17th century to life, and the way the author evokes the creative process of Vermeer's painting is fascinating.

I believe there is also a film, which I haven't seen but have been told is nowhere near as good as the book.

Definitely a book I shall read again.

I also enjoyed this book, and the Virgin Blue by the same author, maybe more than Girl with a pearl earing.
Started reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon but got a little bored in the middle of the third book, will go back to them when I have finished the Da Vinci Code.
Haven't read any of Tom Clancy's SAS books but hubby has, he seemed to enjoy them all, he's not home right now so can't give you any advice as to what order to read them in!
