Old-Fashioned Stuff That Still Functions
#48
I am very old fashioned yet totally functional. And virtuous. Not to mention fabulous.
So STFU.

Now you're making me feel really old.....MD's were newfangled technology for me. And fortunately I'm such a luddite/late adopter, they had disappeared before I got round to getting one!

MiniDiscs are the dog's bollocks. I really wish they'd taken off better so there was some kind of computer interface though. They were great - the quality and digital nature of the CD with the versatility of a cassette. I used to record gigs on them all the time.

I currently have a Peavey Duel 212 that I bought to replace my Marshall VS100 that I had to sell before I moved over here. The guy I bought it from shipped it from Florida, but didn't take the valves out beforehand! Had to sell or give away all my other stuff (wireless mic stuff, stands etc). I did get to ship over my NAD amp and CD player and a nice pair of Mission M71s.

Had a NAD C something or other amp, that would blow you away, even cranked all the way to the top.
A pair of Tannoy R2's, best tower speakers I could afford, not as practical as B&W as a student, but they knew how to put out a lot of quality noise when they were powered by a decent amp.

One thing I regret was selling my old NAD 3240 amp and the fantastic Mission-Cyrus 780 bookshelf speakers before I left for the USA. Music played through a Phillips 373 player and a Micromega offboard DAC never sounded better. Anoraks of the world unite...preferably in a pub playing trivia quizzes (UE's nightmare)

25year old footie socks - Eeeww! My OH used to play footie for ManCity all those years ago and last week, after coming in from practice, he proudly took off a pair of rotten old socks proclaiming their (unsuccessful) heritage!

I think I might still have my old Gillette that I've had since I was 15/16, but I've kept a beard since I was 20, so I haven't seen it in about 4 years.

I shipped over 5 guitars, a mixing desk, a combo amp, a guitar cabinet, an iMac, mics, effects boxes, cables and everything. I didn't ship the mic stands though for some dumb reason, I'm still not sure of the reason why.
I'm really glad I did as I now actually have a whole guitar room to myself!
