Re: NYC
I am 26, a qualified chartered accountant and I chose (yep, I chose) to come to my Company's Chicago office out here back in March.
I love it, great City. Much much better than I think NYC would have been for me. Happy to chat if you have any questions - advice would be to make sure your bf is doing ACA as that is the premium Accountancy qualification and is recognized as such by colleagues (although not by governing bodies). This will give him the best chance of working in one of the top 5 firms (is he doing that already?) and that will in turn give himn an L1 option a year down the line if your disney one doesn't work out.

There's a bright, golden haze on the meadow
There's a bright, golden haze on the meadow.
The corn is as high as an elephant's eye
And it looks like it's climbing clear up to the sky.
Oh, what a beautiful Mornin'
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I've got a beautiful feelin'
Everything's goin' my way.
All the cattle are standin' like statues
All the cattle are standin' like statues
They don't turn their heads as they see me ride by
But a little brown mav'rick is winkin' her eye

Re: NYC
as far as the disney thing goes, no i'm not an employee at a disney store, i work for disney head office on one of their UK TV channels, and i know for a fact that they have offices in NY, i would only apply internally for a job in new york, so its not like they could choose where in the US to send me.
as far as my fiancee goes, as far as i know he's qualified AAT and part qualified CIMA, soon to be fully qualified...what does this equal in the US?

As I described above - tell him to get himself in the door at a multinational firm, and aim for management if possible, then there is a decent chance he could L1A/L1B after a year. It won't be based on qualification though, but a demonstrable need for him to be in the US for the Company he works for - Lawyers can usually cobble together a letter for this (mine did).

Hang on - who is getting the L visa - OP I think? Therefore the husband will be able to work on their visa so its not an issue of visas, just the skills transfer and recognition of qualifications that may mean not getting the same type or level of job as in the UK
