Nothing in Common Anymore

Yes, that.. the NERVOUS heaves, for some reason. I'm not ashamed of who I am now, or what I did before, but it just makes me nervous to think about reconnecting.

The guy I was best friends all through secondary school joined Facebook at the beginning of this year. He left the UK when we were 19 and I hadn't heard from ever since. Always wondered what he was up to, and there he was, married with a couple of cute kids and working for the US Army in California. I keep in touch with about 5 of my school friends and load of people I knew from when I was at University, but only one person from my course, which is funny, as it was Communications.

I'm in touch with a couple of people from uni and several from high school. Always very comfortable when we meet up for some reason.
With one of them, we see each other every 2 years or so. Most recently, he was in NYC and I stayed with him. It's actually amazingly comfortable. We slip right back into how we were. But, he hasn't changed one little bit since uni. No wife. No kids. No house. Don't get me wrong, he's doing alright for himself, but he still gets up at noon on weekends, drinks most nights, etc, etc.
Just like uni, which for me is great since it's like time travelling!
But I'm glad he doesn't live near me since I couldn't keep pace with seeing him often!

The best thing about being married to someone that grew up miles and miles away from me is that no-one can track me down on Facebook if they don't know my husband.

Yeah I know the feeling, especially if you have been away for a while. When I was at uni I went on a year abroad and when I came back, even though I was only gone for a year it was amazing how much you can drift apart from people you were once close to.
