A new user be gentle
Hi all, I know that this paticular subject may have been done to death, but just after a little information.
My son has been accepted into a Golf Academy in Bradenton Florida.
The potential problem we have, is he leaves school at the age of fifteen and we really do not want him over there on his own, at this young age?
Our plan is to go there with him, that means many decisions to be made. For example:
1. We will have to close our business down
2. Sell home
So, what is the criteria to go with him, is this possible, are we exempt from any other regulations because of his age, his schooling, and if anyone can tell me anything about Bradenton, or indeed any sort of help, we really, really would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance....

See if you can secure a status for yourselves by looking for yes answers here: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Pulaski_Simplified
Look at appointing a guardian -- plenty of retired Brits in Florida.
Forget the idea.

Not brutal on newcomers, brutal on people who are impolite, don't do any research of their own, people who expect others to do everything for them, people who demand free legal advice, people who become argumentative when they get answers they don't want to hear and people who post stupid things, among other similar numpty moves. So far the OP has not quite done any of these things.
Giving good information given, researching on your own and being generally polite and realistic go along way to getting good advice.

Your son being accepted at a golf academy is only part of the problem. He needs a visa to attend school in the US. The hardest part, is that there is NO visa available for parents to accompany their children who are attending school in the US.
As parents, one or both of you will need to qualify for a visa independently of your son. Sadly, this has dashed the hopes of many.
