local VFW hall? people say they sell them, not that I've seen them around here, but then never open when I've got free time.

I have a friend in the VFW in Tokyo and he runs a poppy event every year so maybe you should try the local branch.

I think they do red poppies in Canada too.
Don't forget also about the Peace Pledge Union's White Poppies as an option -> remembering all the victims of previous wars, and trying to prevent future ones.

I just called the British Legion.
They are happy to send poppies overseas and hope they get a donation.
The lady I spoke to was in the overseas office and sends them out all the time.
She doesn't think there is enough time this year though to get them here for Sunday.
Each March the British Legion produce an overseas order form and you use that to order your poppies, as many or as few as you like.
They have quite a few offices here in the US....Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and a few more, and you can get poppies there or at the British Embassy.

The US Poppies are not the same as the British Legion/Poppy Appeal poppies from back in England...
They're sort of, well, crap! Little bit of red tissue paper with a piece of green wire wrapped around it. Very nice. Having said that, the British ones aren't exactly a work of art either.
I've got a couple of poppies around the house from when I was last back in England in early November. I've actually had one on my desk at work for about three years now.
I think I might have to get a couple of new ones from the British Legion this year though.

Hi, I've received some poppies from the British Legion Branch in San Francisco.
Visit the website at:

There is a contact e-mail at the bottom of the page.
Has anyone worn their poppy to work? What reaction from colleagues did you receive?

I'm sorry but what are poppies? The only poppies I know are those little dogs.
