You know that "Happy Slapping" will never get anywhere in Florida ..

Slap or punch me.. then run ..
you better be able to beat 1000ft per second....
Or a lot faster than that...think I'll have to go out and buy myself one of these now

They are scary looking in the flesh, bloody thing is about a foot and a half long and is the update on Dirty Harrys gun, making him look like a girl. Why anyone would quite need one for home defence or otherwise is beyond me.

Yeah, that is a beautiful quote isn't it!?! Nice one Jeb!! He is talking complete crap...

Common sense would suggest to me that you avoid life or death situations...

Then if you throw Human instinct into the argument as well... Even the best trained soldier will run if his/her life is threatened. Only a very small minority have the balls (or are crazy enough) to stand there and get shot at!

To suggest that a minority are the ones who possess common sense implies that the majority do not have common sense.

Honestly... Who here would make a conscious decision to stand in the line of fire and think "Yes, this is the correct, logical and sensible thing to do!"?

Answer: No-one. Because it is not what common sense or human instinct tells us to do!

Another feather in the hat for the Bush clan!!

What the f**ks the big problem? Your life is threatened and you kill the SOB instead of getting killed or maimed yourself? Sounds quite logical and correct to me.
Well to shoot the other person you need to feel your life is under threat. So that probably means a weapon of some sort will have to be out already. A fast person with a knife will cover at least 20ft before you've pulled your gun, so you'll be cut up before you can say "Don't come any closer". Or perhaps they've already pulled their gun out. You're f***** either way.

I do not think too many people are going to dra w their gun when someone has the drop on you, not unless you are Dirty Harry. I was taught only draw your firearm if you intend to use it.

By that inane logic, as long as I'm ****ed, at least I'll go down defending myself instead of running away and dying just the same.

Dessert Eagle still has the grunt, get a .50 cannon, that'll really be scary, and take that git out through the engine block of his car *lol*

Inane? It's insane to escalate the situation by pulling a gun. If you run, the situation might not go any further unless the guy really has it in for you and shoots you in the back, but any how, if he has it in for you he'll come prepared and won't give you the time to pull a gun anyway.

Think about it.

Well of course they dont ... its not a self defence weapon .. its a novelty gun ...The most powerful handgun in the world ...People are buying it just cos it is ..having fired 6 rounds from one ..believe me you will never hit a damn thing .. and your wrist is going to be in pain for a day or two after firing it ...
For self defence you need something between a .380 and a 9mm

Give me one situation where you'll feel threatened enough to pull a gun where the other person won't have the upperhand already.

If you shot someone because they cut you up you are still going to jail. Best part of the new law is that if you are justified in using lethal force then the bad guy and/or his family can no longer sue you for damages. Also note this does not only apply to the use of firearms, you could now, for instance, legally use a baseball bat or what ever to defend yourself if you are somewhere you are legally entitled to be and someone tries to mug/rape/assault you. This also doesnt change the law as regards carrying a weapon: you still have to be lawfully licensed to carry by the state and and still cannot brandish or use a weapon as leverage in an argument, for instance.

As far as I can see its a good reason to live in Florida and I applaud the state for having the guts to give rights back to the lawabiding of the place to defend ourselves against the scum of society. Infact all those that have in other threads said they would kill someone who attacked their kids....now we have the right to do that very thing at the time the attack takes place.

I was sort of joking, but it appears quite a logical defence, a 3 ton SUV could quite easily squash my car and me in it.

As far as I can see the law does not specify how you feel threatened, Gun, Knife or SUV seem equally vaild.

Just waiting for the Law and Order episode that covers it, strikes me that this law could be used by many undesirables, whol carries a gun around in a public place anyway, you are already OK defending your property.

PS - my view is that UK law swings too far the other way.

Would appear so, you have the entitlement and the Prosecution would have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that you did not.

I think.

That new monster Dirty Harry Piece is .50 as well - and the added bonus is that you can impress all your friends by showing it off at BBQs saying "Do ya feel lucky, punk? Do ya!"

How would you get away with it? If someone hits your car, that's no reason to feel your life was threatened.
