I was hoping for a link to an official source though, I'll keep looking as well. Try the search term: "color of law". Pay special attention to anything written by folinskyinla -- he's an immigration attorney.

I don't believe any government sites will spell it out for you in black and white. If you want it official, you need a copy of the INA as amended along with lists of precedent judicial rulings.

I think people have to have experienced a Sun City to really 'get' it.

His last name is too foreign sounding?

Basically, what fatbrit just said. Another search term is PRUCOL (present under color of law).

There are a lot of people who are legal, but between documents through no fault of their own.

My husband was comfortable with this law as well. I'm going to have to up his allowance of beatings.

As for taxes etc, it's not a one way street. Many illegals, for example, pay social security taxes and never collect a cent in return. Of course, otoh, many avail themselves of services such as emergency rooms and leave everyone else to pick up the tab.
For the record, I am against people being stopped and searched for no reason.

Even Tom Tancredo agrees with you.

There was a police chief from AZ on tv who supports the law stated his biggest worry concerning enforcing the law would be that they will get a lot more runners (high speed chases) possibly causing serious injuries to the public, driver, or occupants in the vehicle if the police pull over illegals for minor traffic violations and then try to deport them. There are always unintended consequences of laws.

I currently live in Sierra Vista, AZ and they have a army base here called Ft. Huachuca, they catch illegals all the time going through the base.

Army Signal Corps HQ, probably makes it that much easier to catch 'em.

This one is going to be fun ... my g/f is Filipino and comes down from the Bay Area to visit me in Scottsdale, AZ every few weeks. She's been a US citizen for about 20 years, but wouldn't think to carry her passport. I can just imagine her getting picked up as she walks around the neighborhood, since she's probably the only non-white for miles around (other than those cleaning the pools and doing the yard work). I may have to suggest she bring her passport so I can get her out of jail ... what a total embarrassment for AZ. I think this one is going to be struck down faster than a mosquito buzzing in the ear ...

She just paid over $40k in Federal taxes for 2009 - not exactly a drain on society ... ... fu**ing idiots.

I'm a bleeding heart liberal but this article needs some work! The treatment of the dog aspect simply calls into question the whole credibility of the story. BTW - If I were a cop and a pit bull came out of a burning building towards me, I'd shoot the sucker with more than a fire extinguisher.

Sherriff Joe is a loony though. Is there no traction towards getting rid of him? No voter-initiated lawsuits?

You're talking Sun City residents here. About as likely as hell freezing over I'd think.
