What I suspect won't pass constitutional muster is the distinct possibility that under such a law a citizen not carrying an id may be arrested - at least temporarily - on suspicion of being illegal. Of course, with the current balance on the Supreme Court, I can see a 5-4 decision in favour of the law!

It worked regarding the MLK holiday, as the article points out. I think losing the Superbowl was what made politicians change their mind on that one.

Whenever Farmers Branch gets out of hand, all of the gazillions of Latinos in Dallas go over there and protest. That usually shuts them up for a while. Lately they've turned their attention to the wife swappers. Apparently, in Farmers Branch it's illegal to be a swinger. This little campaign of hate was a little more successful though ... I guess it's a little trickier to get a bunch of wife swappers to take to the streets in front of the local media.
Not to mention, it's San Francisco which gets a big from 80% of the rest of the country.

80%? More like 99.9%! Nobody loves us but we don't care...

The main argument of its unconstitutionality is that immigration is the sole preserve of the federal government.

The federal government requires you to carry your green card; a state government cannot so mandate.

That wouldn't be me. I do 40 in a 35.

Wasn't really being 100% serious.

They get to put on the uniforms here.

Well, all except the black guy on the far right. I presume he's the refreshment boy.

That's a horrible photoshop.

And Sheriff Joe is on Twitter? Doesn't seem like his style.

It looks like some kind of club the county set up to make old people feel relevant.

"In order to help keep crimes from occurring against property and residents, there must be a show of trained personnel patrolling the streets at all times as a deterrent. The Sheriff's Posse is not only the largest Posse in Maricopa County, but also the best trained. You, as a resident of Sun City West, are the only person allowed to become a member of the Posse."

That's the Sheriff's Posse of Sun City West. They patrol in golf carts and keep Sun City fresh and clean. Of course, the brown folk from the nearby slum of Mirage are allowed in and out (in daylight hours only) to clean the pool and do the landscaping.

Yeah. And they're very white. Extremely white. Not white as in caucasion but white as in vitiligo/albino. They don't look very healthy either. What if they had to take chase with somebody under the ago of 70?

What if somebody needed CPR? I doubt they could muster up a chest compression amongst them.
