when some of my fiancees extended family found out i was from northern England they did ask if i was muslim.....

FFS no wonder you dont like then there's no need to put sugar in. They are marrowfat peas usually dried soaked in bi carbonate of soda rinsed and boiled with salt and pepper to taste you wouldn't put sugar in cabbage why peas?

Regarding the 23 sickened by sprouts, it doesn't include the other 23 plus, who probably keeled over and dropped dead...after all, they aren't sick anymore.. :p
